    Td5 RRC?

    Hi all
A td5 in a RRC, I'm sure it has been done before. I can get an engineless RRC for a really good price and was wondering that instead of sourcing a V8, why not just put a td5 in it. For starters I really do like the td5, its a very good engine that I am very familiar with, and has good power too when chipped. But how hard would it be to put in a classic rangie? I've thought about this for a while and I think the only difficult part would be the engine mounts and setting up the electronics side of things.
Your thoughts on this would be very helpful.

I have seen it done quite a few years ago.
The owners were very happy with the end result, but said it had cost a lot to do.
I suspect it would be cheaper now, as the engines aren't as expensive.
If you are confident with the TD5 engine it would be good to do.

I seem to remember that Les Richmond Automotive in Melbourne did such a conversion a few years ago.

A guy in FNQ did it about 5 years ago .

He had a LOT of trouble integrating the ECU AFAIR.

Apparently the best approach is to buy a new ECU from a Defender with all the body functions disabled . There is a mob in UK who do this but last time I looked at their site they would not deal with OZ. I was looking at 14CUX chip upgrade but I do not know whether it also applies to ECUs.

Andrew from LRA gave myself and my wife a lift to the thomastown train station in his Blue 89 (IIRC) TD5 RRC. The car has 35's on it and absolutely hammered along and sounded fantastic.

Its a conversion i have always wanted to do

Thanks for all the comments so far. Guess I will be on the look out for a Td5 now, probably one out of a defender. As mentioned the easiest way would probably be to run the body electrics separately from the engine, as the integration of the body ecu would be rather difficult to do. I might give LRA a call too and see if I can get any ideas and advice.
