    Leaky back end

This is my left rear brakes, i've got a leak between the inside of the disc and the inner cover plate thingo, it's definately diff oil as i've been keeping an eye on the level, and having to top it up.

any idea's on where the leak could be comming from and how to fix?, i'm guessing a seal has gone but have no clue which one, and would rather have a replecement with me when i pull it apart.

    any help much appreciated.

    cheers,

    Ray

It will be the hub seal. RTC3511 from memory. There is a good chance that the seal surface on the stub axle will be scored.

    A couple of things -

have a wire coat hanger handy to hang the brake caliper on ( so you don't bend the brake line)

if you do put a speedisleeve on ( the size escapes me at the moment) do it upside down, as when it's inserted right way up and it's time to remove it's installation collar, the sleeve is proud of the hub a few mm.

Buy more than 1 seal. (Anti-murphys law device) and some lockwashers as well.

Remember to adhere to LR's specs re tightening the hub nuts - If the hub gets too hot (too much preload) it will cook the seal and leak.
