Army 110
Gidday Stripey!
After 6 months or so of research and watching andprocrastination I am now in the same boat as you – I’m now the chuffed owner ofan ex-military 110, purchased through the Australian Frontline Machinery/Graysonlineauction in late July.
Only went to look for “research” purposes, but liking one GeneralService Cargo unit in particular I subsequently thought “what the hell”, andfollowing a brief bidding tussle it was mine. Curiously “what the hell” waswhat the wife said too, but her tone of voice was markedly different……..
Having owned and driven a Series 1 for 30+ years, I figuredI was suitably prepared for a bone-jarring ride and litany of rattles andclangs – how surprised I was! Overall the vehicle is a lovely drive once it’sup and going, and not having owned a big diesel before, I am very impressedwith the power and torque of the Isuzu.
The vehicle came with full service and modification records, and done about 180 k’s based on said records. My first job(s) are benchmarkchanging all the fluids, adding some basic security measures, and assessingwhat hasn’t been done to date in terms of general maintenance and any obviousfix-ups/tidy-ups required.
I’ve bought from Dave’s Interesting Things Shop (check theAulro Shop link) an information compilation CD for the 4BD1(T) model, whichincludes the 110 Owners Manual, Rover workshop manual excerpts forengine/transmission etc., 4BD1 Parts Manual, Defender 110 Parts Catalogue (1987on) and (what I reckon is the jam on top) a full range of Perentie-specificArmy Ops & Repair/Servicing instructions. Best $20-something dollars everspent – highly recommended.
Dunno where you hail from, but it’s a small world so mightsee you out and about one day.

G'day Cummo
Welcome to firstly AULRO and to the ownership of a Perentie,I don't know if you are aware that the Australian military Landrover with the Izusu 4BD1 motor is the only vehicle of it's type in the world, designed tested and approved here by Landrover Aust.& UK.
I would advise you to register and join up to REMLR (registry of ex military land rovers).com there is a wealth of knowledge on that forum.
cheers
