    Perentie, Cammo, and DRLs

    Hello to all new Perentie owners.

    Have noticed the numbers of Perenties around the Sunshine Coast on the increase, so it is probably timely to make a point for Perenties Oz wide.

    Many years ago on the old Heathcote road on the outskirts of Sydney nearly got cleaned up by a Army Landie in Vietnam era Oz bush cammo.

    Reason: long straight, with bend at end and Oz bush, couldn't/didn't see it until he flashed/turned on his headlights. Noticed over time that eventually all ADF camouflaged vehicles now drive with headlights on.

    Thing with cammo is one is not supposed to see the vehicle/s

    So for all Perentie new owners/drivers, would highly recommend that you always drive with your headlights on, or get them new fangled LED DRLs Ummm, daylight running lights.

    No such thing. Vietnam era was olive drab, it was a decade after Vietnam before camouflage trials started. In fact the Perenties were still in olive drab when they were first introduced.

    Driving with lights on during the day has always been a good thing, I don't think the Army changed that procedure just for camo, Army convoys have always done it.

    It is also a good thing for grey coloured cars, or any car for that matter. An AusCam Land Rover in the city should stand out like a sore thumb.

    You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Irrespective of that Rick makes a good point - I have nearly been collected a few times in suburbia in my 101 (olive drab) where people just do not seem to see something the size of a 101.

    I am awaiting the delivery of new 7" semi sealed beams with angle rings in them so that hopefully other drivers will see me a bit better.

    Hey, I'm not going to split hairs as to whether it was Olive Drab, or full cammo, against a bush backdrop I still didn't see it. That is the point. Full Cammo would make it even worse.

    (Once they were Shiny green Khaki and at least reflected light )

    Point is, in the sort of glimpse people take before they overtake, chances are they will miss a cammoed vehicle.
