    RWCs for Perenties in Victoria

What are people's experiences registering Perenties in Victoria?

Has anyone had to spend big money?

Has anyone got it without any work at all?

Has anyone tried to use a NSW blue slip at Vicroads, and if so, did they nearly get away with it, or no chance at all?

I've read a few posts and it seems very hit and miss, depending on who you get for an RWC. Recommendations?

I'm looking at getting a soft top 110 at some stage...

A blue slip is not recognised at Vicroads. It must be a RWC.
Having said that, I've only known one fellow to have troubles with the RWC tester. The tester in that case displayed a lack of understanding of the roadworthy process.
From what I have seen, most get through with little work.

There will be further Vic Auctions as the Army still has approx. 1500-1800 units left to dispose of.
It cost $650- 750 to freight one down from NSW plus the cost of viewing it prior to purchase, as I would highly recommend viewing, especially the log books as it appears the speedo's don't like inactivity & are replaced with a zero reading.

Registered in Vic on club plates

Mine was quite easy, had my RWC performed in Cheltenham (can you know where if you need a contact). Main things were just making sure that back was sealed (mine is a snr commander) so it needed the seals around the back door and even a bolt hole needed filling on the external antenna mount so as not to let fumes in. Otherwise there was just a rubber steering boot that needed replacing. I did spend a fair amount of time checking tyres for tread (moved the spare to the front), cleaning with degreaser underneath, checking window washers, lights etc. I had already installed door locks. The key in my mind is to find a RWC checker who is laid back and have a good chat to him about the vehicles and how you intend using it so he understands it isn't a daily driver (in my case)

Once the RWC was completed I joined the LROCV and then put club plates on the Perentie which works in beautifully with only using it on the weekends. The good thing about club plates is that you don't need to take the vehicle to VicRoads for another inspection it just goes on the RWC and the club membership. LROCV don't do an inspection either they just depend on the RWC.

I have a tamed roadworthy guy and so long as I'm the one finding and fixing the issues in prep for the roadworthy it's a pretty painless process.
