I hate to say it buddy but a steel rim is a steel rim (unless its a split rim) there are plenty of local manufacturers who have ADR approval and rated rims, guys have been using local manufactured steelies for decades on there 4x4's, there is no point paying twice as much because its called a "wolf" its the same thing just a steel rim. It's a bit like the perentie rims on eBay for $420 each, you could buy a nice set of alloys for that just because its got perentie or military in the title doesn't make it worth 10x as much...

Well let's agree to disagree I won't repeat the same argument I've had with my brother, who is at Supercheap Auto every other week buying a cheap tool to replace one he just broke. Steel isn't all the same; you buy the cheap stuff and it breaks when abused. Military in the title doesn't add value, but it means that it has been extensively tested in extreme conditions and not been found wanting.

I would like to see the alloys on your Perentie though, they look good

I agree with that for most things especially tools, but when people are just buying things for nothing in the UK and jacking up the prices to crazy amounts once they get to Australia its a different story... Brand new wolf wheels only cost $60 each in the UK so if your paying much more than that for a steel rim, your getting ripped off...

Great tips - I've been told that steelies are more practical than alloys in saltwater because it's easier to get the rims off when you need to do the brakes or a tyre change. Alloy rims were a massive source of misery on my RRC because of the salt/alloy corrosion was like supa-glue after 2 months. I've been told that surface rust from steel might be a bit easier to deal with when the salt beds into the bits that cant be reached with a hose.
