Thread: Winch removal questions???

I'm trying to remove the winch (it's going back on). Ive got all the bolts out so the winch is just held in by two front bolts which are loose now. I'm wondering how the military takes the weight off the winch to remove as I cant remove skid plate to get a jack underneath as the winch stops me from getting a spanner or anything on nut of front skid plate bolts, I'm thinking of setting up my block and tackle attached to roof to take weight, just wondering if there is some trick to this that the army uses??

Ignore this post (thick as pig sh&t) I was in a rush and frustrated, as soon as I wrote it I had a better look and realized you pull rollers off first undo skid plate and drop it out the bottom... Got it out and stripped winch down completely for rebuild today getting the shaft out from drum was interesting, will be replacing the 3 gaskets and seal and polishing winch and painting bull-bar over next two days... Having fun, learning about my new trucks...
