Sorry. You're right. It wasn't an ADR, it was a VSI. VSI 26 - Roadworthiness Requirements.

Maybe it's OK in South Australia and Perth, but I doubt it.
Anyway, an exhaust oultet out the back on a 4x4 Perentie soft top is unroadworthy in Victoria as it allows exhaust gasses to enter the passenger compartment and any licensed RWC assessor who tells me it is I will challenge.
Note: My registered and roadworthy Perentie's exhaust exits from the side.
