Having fun in Waiouru

Hootchie setup on 50-257 using the FFR sugar scoops and some 2.4m oak dowel. The hootchie is 4.5m x 4.5m Sil-nylon.
First time I have used it. Typical foggy morning. Next time I will turn it 45deg to a diamond shape and have more rear overhang. The idea is to double insulate in cold nights as well as have more room if its a case of camping with rain that hangs around all day.
edit. the sugar scoop hole is about 90mm in diameter. The dowel is 22mm or so. What to do? I didn't have much time but I think I got lucky with the first thing I saw in the plastic plumbing section at Bunnings - white poly drains (you probably have one in your shower floor), the inlet hole (top) is 80mm (the octagonal edge covers the 90mm hole easily), with a internal taper shape down to 50mm outlet - its a cone shape. I painted them OD so no one would flog them as they are outrageous at $5 each. Maybe insulating neoprene roll or something else from a construction site skip would do the job as well or better. nb, the 2.4m dowels travel horizontally, 2 each side of the canopy rails, from the rear hoop to the gal section above the doors, held with cable ties. Also, the tops of the dowels got some padding gaffed on to prevent damage to the Sil nylon.
