Last of the really real four wheel drives and it comes.with an engine you could use to beat Chuck Norris to death.

Be assured if you are after a good 4wd designed to work, this is the one to go for.

If BLKNIGHT says they are a good fleet you can take it to the bank theyre good! (he should know)

There is a lot of info on REMLR .
(REGISTER OF EX MILITARY LAND ROVERS - (AN AUSTRALIAN PAGE))

The Registry of Ex Military Land Rovers. Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.
Go to this above page, on left side select the PERENTIE side bar.. that will give you a heap of information about them and their development and use etc.

    Australian "Perentie " 110 & 6x6 Vehicles
The above page here is the forum about PERENTIEs.

    Use search and go nuts!

    LASTLY TO EXPLAIN THE NAME.
The original Perentie Project was named after the desert-dwelling perentie lizard and was aimed at finding vehicles with the perentie's legendary agility in trackless terrain, its endurance, and its adaptability.

Project Perentie director Lt. Col. Lee Osborne said, "It made sense to us to continue with Land Rovers because of their advantageous life-cycle costs.

Over the life of the vehicle in Army service -up to 20 years or more- the Land Rovers prove to be very economical."

    Enjoy

PS someone has done a PERENTIE buying guide but I cant recall who. Do a search on REMLR and then here that should help you.

    Themadmob,

    Quite simply:
Up side:the Perentie is as tough as nails, designed to last and has proven itself in a military environment, easy to maintain and service.
Down side: It's not an SUV. If you think it is you will not like the noise, average top speed and lack of "luxuries" (aircon, power steering, electric windows, stereo etc).
You will either love it or hate it.
It would be wise to go for a drive in one before you consider buying.
