    Perentie springs?

Is there an aftermarket equivalent of the standard Perentie springs?

With my swapping bits over to Ikea I'm seriously thinking of putting the 4BD1 spec front springs from FFR 49-353 in place of the V8 spec Defender springs.

This made me think about swapping the rear over as well, which means I either need to find another pair of FFR Perentie rears or find equivalent aftermarket.

    Any ideas?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

Are you having a coil sprung rear or rocker like the 6x6 or something different again ?

No its a fully coil sprung 6X6 with a SMC through drive on the middle axle, similar arrangement to the current G-Wagen 6x6. (was a ute, now becoming a dual cab)

This is the chassis before chemical strip and re-paint.

This is another Defender of the same construction.

While the body mounts were being fitted but without the intermediate axle.

Ok... I'm jealous !! Have you seen the link I made a week or two ago about 6x6 suspension on here? What's the GVM going to be?

It's manufacturer plated as 4.7 tonne, but I plan to have it engineered down to 4.495 tonne to avoid the heavy vehicle registration surcharges.

Remember this is a Land Rover approved conversion arranged through Land Rover Fleet sales, so essentially a Land Rover Special Vehicles build even though it was converted in the Reynolds Boughton (Scottorn) factory and then returned to Land Rover for fit/finish and delivery.

I have seen your link now, the 6X6 on this is essentially two standard Land Rover 110 axles and suspension systems. The future plan for the vehicle is it install EAS on all axles parrallel the bags (on the same side) between the 2nd and 3rd axle essentially making them load share, not usually possible with coils on a beam axle.

To match the front, you're looking for a 30mm lift over a standard Defender as far as I can tell. I would expect that one of the aftermarket springs that is rated for around 200-500kg load would be appropriate, my FFR has great articulation when loaded up...
However, you need four rear springs and hence each side is going to be double the rate effectively, so until loaded up you need a lot lower rate than typical.

Depends how long you plan to run coils before going to EAS really, if just a stop gap solution for a few weeks with minimal load, run whatever springs you can scrounge, your light weight tray won't compress a pair of station wagon 240lb/" springs anywhere near as much as the full body would compress them, and you have four of the blighters! ...so you'll likely be riding tail high no matter which springs you use (perhaps you may find four from a load-levelled 110 @180lb/", as they are about the softest available for the back of a 110)

The tray is an ICR steel and hardwood tray so not very lightweight.

I already have the springs from when it had the cherrypicker body.

    EAS - Electronic Air Suspension
SMC - SMC Engineering (Bristol) Ltd UK (Often called Sandringham but I'm not sure what the M stands for but the C is Corp.)
ICR - is a motor body builder, I believe they were in Bathurst or Dubbo, you often see the ICR cut out of the frame of ute bodies.

ICR - Blayney. Were suppliers to most of the Central West's Toyota dealerships, so you will mainly see their tray bodies on 75 Series Cruisers and Hiluxes.
