    Hazardous substances.......

Received an email from Australian Frontline Machinery today stating that "....given the age of the vehicle, it is possible some parts fitted to the vehicle may contain hazardous substances, although in the normal operation of your vehicle this should not be cause for concern".
They go on to say that all vehicles sold by AFM were checked for asbestos in their brakes, and where asbestos was found, brake pads or shoes were replaced.
Anyone have any ideas as to what other parts/areas may contain "hazardous substances"? Exhaust system gaskets maybe? It may hinge on what AFM's or the Dept. of Defence's definition of a "hazardous substance" is.
AFM have indicated they will be mailing out advisory/warning labels for affixing to the underside of the bonnet.
They also advised they would be including a label of authenticity from the Dept. of Defence for the vehicle.
All the above may have something to do with the last AFM auction in Minto being cancelled.
Will keep an eye out for the mailman.......

    Cheers, Dave

Probably the depleted uranium rounds left from overseas service...

Not that Aussies use such ammunition AFAIK...

Perhaps there are some gaskets potentially with fibrous nasties in them, or dangerous levels of sulphur in old fuel, actually most would contain dangerous quantities of dihydrogen oxide either in solution with (quite poisonous) glycol, or neat-especially those left out in the weather for a while.

I wonder who found what and kicked up the stink, or if it was just someone scaremongering like oh-so-many before have tried to do.

Maybe there concerned about excessive amounts of lithium flux ions and hydrogen oxides being released out of the Tremy pipe if synusfoilde depleneration occurs from the phase detractors. For more information about the hazards involved in the heavy duty transmissions used in the Perentie please See [ame]http://youtu.be/MXW0bx_Ooq4[/ame]

I'd be more worried about the synchro-larteral dingle arm - I hear that the updated model has fixes so that side-fumbling is almost eliminated! I believe they used cardinal grammeters to achieve this.

Hey I received the same email, seems they're worried about asbestos brake linings and other asbestos stuff that may be in the vehicles. I bought a no.5 trailer and it has no asbestos in it. At least they're accepting responsibility and replacing any asbestos related items. Well thats my thoughts anyway.
