    Perentie gear box

    Where is the best place to buy a rebuild kit for a '89 perentie gear box, It is a 4 speed I think LT 95. Also what price would one expect to pay for labour for a rebuild. And who is best to do it.

    I strongly recommend speaking with Bearman on this forum, he's extremely knowledgeable, top bloke and great prices.
    Just so you know, I got mine rebuild in Perth, was out of action the first time for 2 months, cost me 6 grand and hasn't stopped leaking since and has been back countless times over many months.

    My only regret is I didn't send my box or even vehicle to Bearman, would have been quicker and cheaper and better job.

    That is some seriously bad luck/workmanship.

    I do hope you are pursuing a resolution via legal channels?

    OldYella, I've asked the same question and the answer I got was that a full rebuild would cost around $3500.

    I'll just keep taking it back till its fixed and doesn't leak. hopefully they will get sick of me coming back and fix it properly.

    Given that the LT95 gearbox has an oil pump in it, if there is a need to tow a Perentie, is it safe to tow the vehicle or should the prop shafts be removed first to avoid any damage to the gearbox?

    Information regarding towing is given on the info plates attached to the drivers side seat box. Remove propshafts over 200km towing distance.

    Personally I would use a trailer if i was towing it more than 2 or 3 k's.

    pull it out, send it to bearman pay the money and ask no questions.

    hes got the kind of quality of workmanship that makes german build quality engineers worried that one day something they let pass might be sat next to and compared to some of his rushed work.
