    RFSV camo net.

Anyone selling a RFSV camo net?
With recent research I've found that the stowage area on top of the (newer) vehicles is designed for camo net stowage. Does anyone have any info on the nets or where to get them from? I haven't seen any RFSV come from grays with them fitted.
Here is a photo of interest with it fitted. The front one has the canopy stored there and the one at the back has a camo net on top. ImageUploadedByAULRO1430564162.608515.jpg

G'day TK. All Perentie racks are cam net racks, hard tops have high mount 'D' tie points near the roofline.
A used to carry ours on the bonnet with tyre tube lacky straps. less snagging on branches.
Correct issue nets come up for sale at disposals stores, but don't come cheap. $100-200. 8x4m.
Chinese cheaps might look good in the shop, but do a fair impression of dogs balls in the field.

I understand they first of the RFSV had the boat racks on top. Why did they go away from them ?

Tristan, short answer, we..er..they kept ripping them off.
We were issued the 3.8 tinnies 2/patrol initially then later 4.2m 1/ patrol towed on trailers. Later still we received trailers for the 3.8s.
Obviously there was a safety issue travelling long distances over very rough roads with a tinny on the roof and an outboard in the back with the rear pax.
Up until the time I left 51 FNQR in '97, we kept the racks off and only fitted as required. After I left, I believe they were all collected and disposed of. Some come up every now and then. Juddy has a set on his RFSV (ex 51 veh) and he can get some if needed.
    Cheers, BDave.

Where did you Aquire it from Ellen and how much? Or are you offering a sale ? At least I wouldn't have to pay freight I've had a look at the military disposal stores online and couldn't see one of the right dimensions that Dave suggested.

I don't even know how/where I would use it.... But it would be a fun thing to have I think!! make sure those sneaky kangaroo's don't see me in the bush?

Cam nets -proper Aust Army ones- are around. At Corowa in March this year I got a 2nd one and they are gold. Rarer still are the right poles with the right "heads", size of a frizbee but stronger.
