Ultima battery for a GS Perentie.

The battery which came with my Perentie 12 months ago is starting to die and won't hold a charge.
I'm going to replace it with a yellow top Ultima and am looking at either a D27F or a D31A.
Anyone running either of these (or another model) under the passenger seat?
    Thanks
    Alan

both will be fine and more than you need. you might want to pack the battery frame out or replace it however.

an N55 is enough for the perentie but the N70 is the OEM spec.

There are also after market battery trays you can get.

    Something like this

D44 Defender Twin PC1500 Battery Carrier

    or a single

Dunno if it will work in the Perentie, I guess theoretically it will..

What is the purpose of these trays? Its a rather nice box shape in there to start with. Is the structure not strong enough to take the weight of a second battery? Are these trays actually improving that?

Don't you just need to deal with a bit of step in the base and make a good tie down system?

    Pretty much.

I've seen pictures of blocks of wood used to level the bottom of the battery box out. I guess the tray is a classeyer way of doing it where you won't lose as much height?

I haven't done it myself, just taken notes for future use as I may be getting my hands on an electric winch and two optimas.

The neg post on the current army fitted battery is very close to the metal cover for the seat box, but I'm not too stressed as it is the neg, not pos post.
Ideally, I'd like a slightly lower battery to get around this issue, but as I already have another yellow top in the battery box as an aux battery, I'm just looking for a good capacity starting battery that will keep me going.
It is getting VERY crowded in the space under the pass seat!!!!!
