I removed my drivers tank last night as it leaks the worst there is a very large gap at bottom of tank between guard and tank a good thumb width sized gap that was filled with silicon.
I think it would be wise to completely remove the guard repair tank cleaning out the mountain of gravel and crap I have between the two before attaching guard back to tank and resealing it abit better (even if another piece needs to be welded to the guard to reduce gap)
My issue begins however with the guard being spot welded to the tank around the center seam, I have seen another tank that has rivets where I have spot welds I'm thinking maybe welds have been drilled out previously during a rebuild.
Seeking ideas and suggestions black knight seems to have allot of experience with these vehicles along with other members of this forum what would be your suggestions

The holes at the bottom will be small. I was surprised how the inside of my tank was quite clean rather than corroded. I would give it 2-3 coats of Redkote. I would bother removing the guard.Quote:

I cant quite remember what I paid for mine but it was just over $2k and cost me about $3k buy the time I paid fees and got it home. And with a new battery it has been working hard on the farm for almost 2 years now. It had full log books, low km. Ok one day ill need to buy a new windscreen surround, canopy and some door tops. But I got a motor, gearbox diffs, chassis, most panels.Quote:

I bought a FFR in excellent condition from the Adelaide Auctions last year for a fraction over $6K (I think it was $6100 or something). Half of the vehicle was refurbished and in mint condition - even the canopy canvas was great.Quote:
