    2.8l Perentie, Any Good?

    Just had a look at one of the above.

    I've never heard much about a 2.8.

    According to the log book it's the original engine.

    Are there any issues or harder to get parts for the 2.8?

    Can you check the year model?
    That must be one of the one they got in the 2000's. It's a TD5 ... I think.
    Shouldn't have any problems getting parts

    I think old mate was dreaming.

    4BD1 was stamped on the block.

    Were there even 2.8s?

    Definitely not a TD5, it's a 1989 FFR

    I reckon he must've seen Isuzu written on the motor and thought it was a 4JB1 as fitted to Rodeos. They do look kinda similar and the 4JB1 is 2.8.

    There weren't any 2.8 4BD1s, they're all 3.9.
