Possibly my bad, Bad Co
How does the KLRR05HD shape up
I have KLRR05
I am quite aware that springs listed for the County (with L/L assumed) aren't going to work well
Thanks for posting the s/sheet
Thanks guys.Sort of ok now. For the meantime I have an external pacing device attached until a custom one is made in Germany and shipped over, should be ready in a couple of weeks. Not feeling too bad all things considered. Just have to be careful not to pull off one of these wires!
hmm. I haven't measured it yet. Probably won't for a while as I'm not really allowed to do anything. The front's have definitely settled a bit since install. I can't fit my head in between the tyre and the guard like I could when they were first fitted.
BadCo, when you say 'both those springs are underrated for the Perentie' which springs (part #) are you referring to?
I assume s/w is station wagon, what does l/l mean?
swapping the rear springs is a pretty easy job if it comes to that. I really would like it to sit level or arse up. Nose up just looks silly and does seem to catch the wind on the highway.
I suppose I Could probably sell the springs for close to what they are worth seeing as they have almost no km on them - if they won't swap them. Seeing as it's been a few months since they were fitted they probably won't.
I am interested in that spreadsheet :> showing different heights for the left and right springs. I can tell you each pair was exactly the same height when they were sitting on the ground before installation.
Sorry Chris, L/L or l/l is the boge load leveller which does have a weight supporting function as well, they were only fitted to Counties and Range Rovers, not the utes or Perenties. Hence the requirement for a stronger spring on those vehicles without it. They are often removed from Counties when they no longer work and then the 05 spring is needed (if raised).
Simply dealt with, it is what I have on my raised County and it is close to level (slightlynose down) at normal loads.
Stay well & take care
Just Had a look at mine, can only measure the drivers side at the moment
Front
Spring 31cm. centre of axle cap to guard - 54.5
(this has settled from 33cm when they were first installed)
Rear
spring 33cm. centre of axle cap to guard - 52.5
Measuring the line on the fuel tank to right (towards the front) of the writing, it's 52cm at the bottom of the line.
so it is sitting low in the rear, which seems to make sense given that info about the springs. Might give them a call tomorrow and see about swapping for a klrr-05.
So there are 4 KLRR-05 springs enter klrr-05 in the product section http://kingsprings.com.au/
KLRR-05
110 trayback 84-91 and defender 110/TD5 1992-2001
KLRR-05HD
Defender 130 1992-1999
Defender 110/Td5 1992-2001 (interestingly on this one the description says - Raised coil 300-500kg
KLRR-05EHD
130 1992-1999 - Raised coil 500Kg +
KLRR-05 HDPR - Raised comfort coil - progressive spring.
I don't know much about the suspension design on these. Will the springs referenced for the 130 fit on a 110?
Looking at those numbers, the KLRR-05EHD is the only one to fit given the Perenties 900Kg load rating for the tray. (if you want to keep that)
