    Ashcroft ATB front & rear

A few weeks back I broke a front half shaft, the oh so typical drivers side. I decided if I couldn't get the broken bit out and had to strip the diff carrier out that I'd upgrade the front end.
Ended up doing a complete strip down and changed over to a later Defender front end with the fine spline centre (Ashcroft ATB diff), half shafts, short stub axles and thin drive flanges.

After doing some off road testing as one does after doing this sort of work, its awesome.
Then I saw Ashcroft now do a ATB diff for the rear Salisbury, got one, fitted it.
Its now an even better tractor than it was, very happy with the results as I could never justify the cost of a ARB locker for the amount of average 4x4 work I do.

Driving it on road with the front ATB (no power steering) the steering centres a bit (like having one of them self centre steering dampeners fitted) but got used to it and at higher speeds it actually tracks a lot better.

Welcome to the converted. My now gone D2a and my almost back on the road RRC both have the very similar trutracs F & R. Personally, I like the self centreing action, and as you say better at speed.

I have been a fan of the Ashcroft ATB for as long as I've been fitting them to the rear of Defender TDCi models
