Eurovox 5880 CD Player Error Code

When a CD is placed in the machine in question it attempts to read the CD for 6 or 7 seconds and then spits it out with:

    E - 04

    on the display.

I have checked the audio book but it has nothing about error codes. Any pearls of wisdom on this issue folks?
    Cheers, Dale

Usually refers to a bad disc or fail to read disc. Can also be caused by a dirty laser so if you have a cleaning disc try that.

Does it to every CD. Do you have a cleaning disc?

Sorry but I don't. As it's with every disc that would be the best thing to try.

I used to have one several years ago because it was a problem on the CD changer in the D1.

Hello Dale your laser will be kaput or as has been suggested possibly very dirty and cant read disc. (E-04)
(E-99) means mech jam and this will need all the mech switches replaced, these I have many of.
You can try with a dry cotton bud cleaning the laser lens..gently in twisting round motions.
A new laser will probably be cost inneficient.
the eurovox is possibly the same as the sony cdxa55.(ebay possibly)?
It may need an adaptor lead that has 2 pins swapped out to make it work, it may not. I have come across both.one that works without mod and ones that did.
Unfortunately I dont have any left that I can help you with.
I used to have my own repair business and was an authorised sony eurovox kenwood jvc car stereo repairer. I also dont have any of the lasers left, I used to have many.
Or you could replace the cd stacker with an MP3 /cd/DVD player that will hold almost the same amount of songs on one disc as your stacker holds in 10 discs.
    Kind regards
    Brad

Thanks for that Brad - most appreciated.

I'll look for a Sony and see how I go.

The unit I have is only the single CD version and around there is no need for a stacker - unless I drive to the Stuart Highway (670km) and beyond!
