    D1 radio wiring harness

    Hi folks

I've only got a RAVE cd for the D2 but I'm trying to put a new Alpine head unit in Kim's D1...

Can anyone tell me what each of the wire colours on the back of the factory D1 radio/casstte are?

It's a 94 facelift with the Eurovox radio/cassette with the front CD jack (like the VN/VP Commodores had).

    TIA
    Cheers

it will have 2 ISO plugs to go straight into the new head unit, otherwise an ISO-alpine adapter may be required

Unfortunately the single plug on the back of the factory unit is about 3-4 cm wide and the Alpine socket's only about 2.5 cm - but if adaptors are available that would be much more preferable to all the cutting & crimping...

    Cheers

Try Supercheap, Autobarn or one of those types of places. They should have the adaptor.

what about tracing back down the wire, about 6 inches? mine (93 pre update) goes factory harness - into 2 plugs (ISO) into a single plug (eurovox/VP commodore style plug)

i originally used a vp commodore - jvc plug with my old head unit, but when it was stolen, they pinched the wiring too

then i bought a VDO head unit, went to install it, all ready to cut and crimp etc and found to my surprise that the 2 ISO plugs remaining went straight into the back of my head unit (1 is for power etc, and the other for speaker output)

it seems complicated but its really not

if you dont have those plugs, i would suggest someone has cut them off in the past

    Cool! Thanks guys!
I'll have a look further down the harness and if that's a blank try Supercheap etc.
    Cheers again

Go to autobarn and ask for an Aerpro ISO to Alpine - about $16.

The AERPRO to Alpine harness is so ****house I ended up making my own with two ISO plugs with loose wires (ie joined the two harnesses). Instead of being plug and play like all the rest of their harness, you need to find the earth, switched, and constant 12v wires yourself (which is inanely idiotic because there on the damn plug in the D1). It's actually harder to use than make you own harness.

It also has a massive queer box that I assume has a fuse in it but it doesn't open and it's so bloody huge its hard to shove anywhere.

Must be just the Alpine one, my JVC loom was just a simple 2 iso plugs to 1 jvc plug no fuse boxes on it.
