How to remove broken tip of MP3 cable

    G'day all,

My better half, in her new car, has somehow broken the tip of the double ended Ipod cable. How on earth do I get it out of the car's audio input jack?

    TIA,

    Regards

You can try putting a daub of superglue on the end of a match, inserting it into the jack and pulling out the remainder of the audio jack that way. I've had some success with this, depending of course how tight the socket is.

Unfortunately you may have to resort to taking out the head unit, removing the casing and pushing out the jack from the back of the socket, which you'll find soldered to the main board. Thats the only way that I can guarantee will work.

In future, buy better quality audio patch cables. The five iPods I have fixed in this manner since Christmas, the problem was patch cables bought from various dollar stores, which dutifully broke off in the iPod headphone jack.

go buy a chuppa chup, eat it, the stick it comes on is hollow, VERY VERY carefully put a Dob of super glue gel on IN the end of the stick (you dont want it lipping up over the edge) then push that down onto the end of the jack, hold it incrediably still and count to 30.

    Pull gently.

charge offending member $10 for the super glue and $1 for 2 more chuppa chups.
