Thread: Replace/repair radio/cd in D2a

I ditched the nearly new set in the Defender (due to appalling AM and FM reception) and bought a Pioneer unit from JB HiFi. It had a connection for the remote control...not that the Defender has one. I would think that most units these days would have this facility.

The Pioneer has a USB socket that the Ipod connects to and can also take an SD card.

I did the installation myself with the help of a proprietary loom that connected the new unit to the ISO plugs that Land Rovers come with.

Ryda or Strathfield could do the installation however.

As said juts go and buy a new one. Plenty around ranging from $100 up.
I would get one with ipod and usb. I hardly use CDs now and no skipping.
For Offroad I would avoid one with jog / shuttle control. I put one in my Defender 6 months ago and detest it as every bump you hit makes it difficult to use. Simple buttons are better.
Pioneer, Kenwood, Alpine and many more all make good head units from budget to top range car audio.
I know Pioneer have steering wheel controls but can be a pit dearer.
