electronic brake controller
Hi All,
Not sure if this is the correct channel, sorry if it is not.
i currently have a Tekonsha Sentinel Electronic brake controller in my Disco 2, which is in a stupid spot in my car. I'd like to replace with a Redarc remote head unit (the EBRH). My question is, can i cut the wiring/disconnect the wiring and easily connect the new unit to the existing wiring? from what i've read, the wiring seems the same, but i'd like to be sure.

Without looking, I would say yes as there is only 4 wires on the controller.
Black +ve
White -ve
Red Brake ligt wire pick-up
Blue Variable voltage feed to pin No.5
I have fitted a RedArc remote head to my vehicle also, very good unit & simple to use.
Cheers

I just installed a Tekonsha P3 and yes the wiring and colours seem exactly the same.
The Redarc has the advantage of low footprint, as it is a remote control design. However I have heard it is not good as the Tekonsha P3 in the way it works.

I like the diagnostics displays of the P3, even gives you battery volts.

x2 for the P3.
I had a Voyager and now a P3. Much prefer the P3, easy to setup and yeah the voltage display shows exactly whats going on. It seems very smooth on the take up too, i don't know if the P3 is pendulum based but whatever they have done with it works well.
Cheers

+ one for the red arc, I just installed one in the d2 using the wiring from the previous owners prodigy, it doesn't intrude and it works perfectly.

X3 for the p3
I was going to install the redarc but after reading lots of info went with the P3.
Definately the same wiring. Only wire size may vary. I think that the redarc uses smaller gauge wiring. though so you should be fine as your existing should be this or greater.
ps. cant remember the required gauges tho

Hi,
Anyone have a write-up about how to install a P3 into a Disco 2?
