    Little Green Box Ticking

Just acquired a low k 97 Disco ES Tdi auto. While bumping along the dirt on the way home the hazards started along with a ticking noise like a flasher can. Have narrowed it down to a little green box under the LH side of dash. Have tried disconnecting battery and plug from box to reset, but to no avail. Car runs fine, pulled hazard fuse so thats fixed, only thing not working is central locking, and of course that damn ticking. Any ideas? Chumpy1

I suspect that one of the bumps triggered the inertia switch. I think that it will be in the engine bay, mounted to the firewall.

Hopefully someone will be along to tell you exactly where it is and how to reset it (normally a push of a button).

    Best of Luck,
    Peter

Thanks Bushwanderer you are correct, the green box is the housing for the inertia switch. Unfortunately Series 1 doesn't have reset button, you have to switch the ignition off and on a couple of times to reset (read that in the manual!). My bigger problem was the green box was only fixed at one point and was loose. I've spent the afternoon skinning my right hand trying to locate and tighten a nut on the forward end of the box. Finally gave up and used double sided tape and a very tight nut on the rear end of the box!!
