Buggar, I have a GME Tx3440, but it's an earlier model than the November 2010 models.

I wonder if there would be a hardware upgrade offered instead of having to replace it?

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Adding channels

    Hi All

I have been toying with the idea of buying myself another radio test set to do something useful with my time, (while I am under house arrest by my gp).

I could then be adapting the existing uhf cb's to narrow band / 77 channel use, but mind you not all uhf cb's will be economical to do so because of their age and the time taken to modify.

Are there any other radio tech's on this forum and are willing to give this idea a go?

    Cheers Arthur

Just converted our new TX3540 I had installed in the work car last week. Pretty cool.

Funny, I always thought ICOM was overpriced.

    But I did buy a 440.

Seems it will be the LAST ICOM I will ever buy.

    Thanks for the tip !!

I don't think they are overpriced ($400) for the quality and robustness.

    A very good radio.

Me neither - especially given my 400 Pro (A much older model) was fully upgradeable. However, it's basically a commercial set, as is the handheld IC41S, whereas the 440 is specifically a UHF CB.
