    Hand held FDC FD450UH B(CB)+4-001M

I've got a couple of the above 'Australian CB 40 ch radios'. There is a programming cable available, but does anyone know if it's possible to reprogramme them for the new 80 channel system?

    Good question - well asked.

I have one as well and find it a top radio - especially for the $89 I paid for it. I have the cable and software but haven't tried it yet so am interested as well.

    12.5kHz

    Hi Guys,

AFAIK these radios can not be set up for the new 80ch band allocation.

According to the info I have they are only capable of a 25kHz channel spacing. The new 80ch layout requires 12.5kHz spacing.

    So, short answer is no.

Have not actually played with with one of these so am happy to defer to more experienced souls if my information is incorrect.

    Cheers,
    Iain

If you have some programming software handy Garry, it might be worth the trouble to test and see.

    The reply from Feidaxin:

    Hello Don,
    Thank you for your email.
Yes,i know that ,The australian standard is changed.

Could you please let me know?Where did you buy the radio?40channels or 99channels?
If your radios is 40channesl,it can not support 80channels.
If it is 99channels,you can programme radios via keypad or programming cable.
Please contact me if you still have any problem.
    Best regards,

I think it means those of us with these radios are up for new ones when they become illegal. Don.

For those who want clearer instructions for this radio at this late hour, I found this:

    Reprogramming

I have Feidaxin and the programming software. I have reprogrammed them for 80 channels without any problems.

I got another email from Maisie after I sent her the information on where I'd got the radios from. She said she'd never heard of 409 shop and they weren't official dealers of Feidaxin. Interesting then that You Howard can reset them to 80 channels. Could you post instructions for dummies like me?
    Thanks, Don.

    Hi Guys

The manual that is in the link in an earllier reply is for the FD 150A/160A/450A/460A and clearly states they be used with 12.5KHz channel seperation which means they are OK for 80 channel CB. On my FD288 and FD450 I simply set those frequencies in the software and loaded them to the radio - no problems.

You can quickly test if that is possible with your set by just changing from memory mode to vfo mode (press the v/m button) and entering one of the frequencies for the new channels. If it accepts it you are OK. You can then follow the instructions in the manual (referred to above) to store that channel in memory.

If you have any problems post again and I will see what can be done to help. It is possible that some limitations have been set on the radios but that can be changed if necessary.

    Regards

    Howard

That's good to hear as I've just picked up 2 of these units.
