Success!!.Thanks Howard for your advice. It seems the manufacturers rep is wrong about these things. I've reprogrammed one of my radios tonight with relative ease. once I got some peace to concentrate on the keystrokes and frequency numbers. I don't have the cable, just did it through the keypad. I got the frequencies from the link below:

An update on these FDC 450 radios from 409shop.
I've discovered while reprogramming my second unit to the new 80 channel system, that they can be set to increase frequency in steps of either 5k, 6.5k, 10k, 12.5k, or 25k. So by setting the radio to increase by 12.5k then advancing twice you arrive at the next desired frequency.Set the new channel number,then do it again and so on, till you've got the second 40 channels all set and numbered.
This manual is handy to have near by for the key strokes.
