    Radio CD Head Unit Failure

    Hi guys, first post!!

    I have a problem with the radio/cd head unit in my trusty MY05 D3, in that it no longer turns on! Has happened before with a dead battery, but usually turns back on after reinserting the relevant fuses, but not this time.

    So several questions;

    1) does anyone have any bright ideas on testing the head unit, fuses or wiring looms to see if any of those components work (hopefully without tearing the D3 apart)?, and/or
    2) can anyone recommend a decent LR auto electrician between Sydney Airport, CBD and Hornsby that won't rip you off (was quoted close to $700 for the fellows at the Alexandria dealership just to pull the dash off to 'have a look'

    Thanking all in advance.

    One of our AULRO members is a gent named "Rupert Prior" located in Bexley (I think) who seems to be a whiz on most things electrical regarding modern Land Rover and Range Rovers.

    May be worth your while sending him a PM to seek his assistance or referral.

    Cheers, Paul.

    taxiwayalpha - have you first tried a hard reset? That is, turn off D3 and wait for the park light to go out - all computers are then asleep - and then disconnect the battery +ve terminal clamp and touch it to the -ve terminal clamp for about 15 seconds or so. Then screw +ve terminal back on and see if the radio works.

    If that doesn't work, I have a CD400 (single CD player) from my MY07 D3 for sale!

    Cheers,
    Rob

    OK, thanks for the tip. I assume this a safe procedure and won't fry anything else on the vehicle. Hopefully I can get it working again so I can offload the D3 and get a D4 8-speed SDV6 in 201x....
