Alinco DX-70 HF radio
I have the opportunity to pick one of these up second hand but barely used. Installed, used for a trip, removed and repacked into box and forgotten. Has both channel aerial to suit installed freqs and 18m wire antenna.
Is it worth having on the chance I'll need it or moving on and reselling as what I don't yet have is just a basic UHF.
Opinions?

They are not a bad basic little rig. I presume you mean a a multi-band antenna and an 18m wire one.
You are aware that this is a HAM radio, and as such you need to be a licensed amateur to operate one. It is illegal otherwise.
If you want long range comms "just in case" then look for a second hand Barrett, etc. Or hire a Sat phone for those remote trips. Also get yourself a good UHF rig if you don't have one.
