Anyone having issues with their inmarsat devices ?
Apparantly there is a global registration problem.
If your phone is always on it won't be affected, just if you turn it on now it won't register with satellite, which is not a good thing.
You know I can't remember the name of the OIC who used to be at HVIL, but SH rings a bell.
The isatphone is a bit different to the mini-m's, still uses the same POR geosynchronous satellite but you only need to point the antenna on the phone in the general direction of north , or north east if your in WA to get a full 5 bar signal & trees dont seem to be such an issue, but you'd be in trouble if you fell down a mineshaft.
you can't call 000 on inmarsat, you have to dial the full number, I'm in the process now go loading up my contacts on the isatphone, including all the RFDS numbers, outback pubs, applicable FNN's for emerg services, Landrover parts suppliers, outback towing, bush pilots / helicopter charter (for delivering parts if need be) ect ect.

No problems with mine. I had a problem about 4 months ago where it would not connect but when I rang the help desk they re-registered the sim card or something and it has been perfect since.
