UHF antenna's ???
I have a GME TX 3400 UHF in my 98 Disco, it currently runs through a cheapy fibreglass aerial, about 900mm long mounted on the guard, i have put a winch bar on the car and now want to move the aerial, but as this is such a cheap and poor quality aerial (low power) i have decided i might aswell get a new one, it needs to be good in rough country, have a spring base, and be fairly tough (for instance a bird strike), my mate has a big white one on his ute, which has stood up to a bird strike, its relatively new so would be a 6.5 dB antenna i think, its about 1200mm long, cost him $220
Does anyone know a good place in Sydney (south side) to buy aerials, don't mind cost, it will end up on a high country trip so it needs to be pretty reasonable. Also an you recommend a brand, and maybe a model if you have personal experience with a goodun
Thanks
Will

GME have a good range look at the link the google to get the best price most good retailers will post their location dosnt matter too much
Land - 477 MHz | GME
BTW with uhf the length of the ant doesnt matter to much but an elevated feed ant on a spring base is good if mounting on a winch bar the thing to think about is do you need high gain or low gain ant IE are you going to use it in hilly country or flat most of the time even get a 3.5 and a 6.5 db to cover both
you can get a good set from supercheap with both ant in a pack

Don't know about the south side but Andrews Communications in Greystanes is good for advice and they have a comprehansice, if not a little disorganised website. Also there's a mob in Perth that run off ebay as well as the web that a few people have recommended in the past as they have really good pricing and a good web site.

Thanks fellas, i assume low gain = flat terrain, high gain = hilly (am i right), i had a quick squiz the other day at SCA, but i had always thought their products were lets say the lower end, however if they are supposed to be alright it doesn't worry me if i buy them, where the farm is there is a dense pine forest, along with a mountain range (Weddin), i assume i would just get the high gain as it should do everything, maybe i'll have a look at some 4wding places, Cheers

Low gain for hilly areas, high gain for long flats.
