Replace CD400 Pov pack with a do all chinese job

Ill be Garrycols guinea pig,Purchased the said do everthing Ice system , DVD/Radio/GPS/Digital TV/Bluetooth /Ipod,USB etc etc etc .
So I pulls me old CD400 out and find there are 3 connections to it !
1 is the aerial connection ,the CD400 is a Fakra male so you will need an adapter to get it back to the Din spec Autoleads PC5-100

RANGE ROVER FAKRA AERIAL ADAPTOR PC5-100

    2 A plug with only 4 wires (red/blue/2 blacks)
3 The Speaker wire plus ?'maybe some power/acc Plug See Picture .
So will you need the standard ISO plug conversion adapter
Okay and the most important, the 2 Din Facia adapter/mount
    Connects2 CT23LR02A .

The landrover cd400 to Generic Iso plug seems to not carry the same wiring as required.
That other 4 wire plug is not identified but appears to be the main ACC and fpower feeds. the unit does not power up at all on just the iso adapter.
The 3 plugs left after removal of the CD400 pov Pack

So now what we need is what are the actual pinouts and there colors coming out of the CD400
OIts then coverted through the ISO adapterto suit the the New Head unit

Heres what the unit looks like installed

Not to bad , but along way from actually working.
There will be problems with getting all that extra wiring into such a confined space.Im thinking of just cutting the Iso conversion plugs out and soldering direct to the new units iso connection.
So Garrycol ,as soon as we get the pinouts/colors the sooner I can wire it up. Simply ,Identify each wire going into the Back of the CD400 !
A piccy of the supplied Landrover to ISO adapter plug ,with spare leads that are not nominated (yet)

How many steering control inputs are there? The ones I have looked at have been one less than needed - Mode, Volume up and down, and change station, track etc.

Also - we know about changing the clock on the dash display - will not work, but the steering controls also change the settings via the radio to the canbus to change settings in the cars trip computer (eg mpg to l/100km etc). Not such an issue once setup.

In the past people have left their old radio connected to the canbus and installed elswhere in the car but I was thinking of just having connectors with power etc that I could plug in the old radio to make adjustments if needed.

Here is an old thread on it - unfortunately some of the info has gone walkies - http://rrsport.co.uk/forum/topic6085.html?highlight

These people may have the bits you need http://stores.ebay.com.au/In-Car-Mus...id=p4340.l2563

Hurry up and finish it and then tell us how it all works - what radio did you get??

Thanks Garry, but where can I get the pinouts for CD400 , If I knew what they were ,then life would be alot simpler.
The steering wheel conections are L,M,N(not on my pov pack so unless buying and installing the button setup on the steeering wheel.)

The unit is the same one you suggested

No Problems, Found what I needed To know on Disco3.co.uk.Some yank posted up exactly the issue with what the spare loom actually does and how to get around it.
Looks like ill need a feed from the Ciggie lighter to make it work properly.

400HPONGAS - have you been able to make any progress on this??

I had a look at this model today ORION High Performance Car sound: High Performance, Car Audio, car Sound, Sound system, Directed Electronics, Australia, Orion, Amplifiers, Subwoofers, Orion Wired, HCCA Subwoofers :: AVR 6.1 . Is only 6.1" but does seem to have the goods in it but price was $1700.

Sure did ,finally got it up to a reasonable working condition.
So now have full digital TV,DVD movies,MP3,MP$,IPOD,Nav system,Igo8,Wince 6 ozieplorer,FM/AM ,rear reversing camera, front and rear USB ports,Front SD card ports , Bluetooth phone,
Sound quality as good as the original if not better, bit cheezy menus, but it boots with the proper LANDROVER logo .
Lots of wiring overides to use the TV,DVD/camera/Nav on the fly instead of all the BS about only be able to use when EPB applied.
Maybe the only issue is the Canbus timings and clocks via the voltage metering, thats why the unit isnt bad ,because it has a on/off front switch .A touch screen only model would be a disaster!!
The other issue is Physical, size ,It wont quite go back in the dash as far as you would like, the rear lower mount hits on the upper heater ducts.
The standard one is actually on lower roller mounts .
Biggest job was cutting and shutting the Canbus to iso to supply to overrides ,****loads of wiring and very little room to fit it !!
Drilled and extra hole in the firewall ,to get the twin TV antennas,GPS antenna ,power supply in as well.

You know we want pics and specific details of wiring etc - your car did not have steering wheel controls did it?

trying to replace mine too - any advice would be great

    Hi,

Saw your post re you changing the head unit over. Really interesting.

I'm looking to do the same but finding people are too scared to offer to hard wire it in for me.

CT23LR02A found this in loads of UK shops though and wondered if you thought it would work with a new Sony DDIN unit I have bought?

From experience, do you think it would just be a case of plug and play with the new wiring adapters or would I have other expected problems?

Mine is only a basic stereo in a 2006 Disco 3. No dash display other than Km's to worry about and no steering wheel controls etc.

    Cheers

    Tim
