    Blackbox camera (LandyCam)

Fitted a BlackVue DR400G HD to the Defender this morning,
Pretty impressed & a great concept. Can see these becoming as popular as GPS's.

The camera fits in front of the Mirror so you can't even see it, No buttons to push, It just starts recording when you start the car.

Records onto a micro Sd & loops back to the start when full (about 6 -8 hours).
Also records speed & plots the GPS path, even in the tree cover the gps path still plots fine

heres a clip I uploaded in its natural HD mp4 output

and heres one I compressed so the quality is down but you get the idea,

BTW, it dosent look it but The hill is Steep, & with all the rain not a hope of getting over the rock ledge,

Great system but do you really want to advertise doing 70 in a 60 zone?

I think they're a great idea and could prove very useful in the avent of some idiot pulling out in front of you....... Until it shows you ran the yellow by .5 secs or where doing 63kph in a 60 zone. Strikes me that you need to be 110% sure you are in the right before handing over the footage or you are just giving the other party the information and proof to sue.

That's a local council issue. They'll be in contact shortly.

I did a bit of google research and the BlackVue came up trumps, but theres probably more choices about now,
The compressed youtube clips dont do it justice, heres some raw footage if you want to download the 35mb one second clip

oh excuse the expletive when red car tries to do a u turn in front of me

Its HD, you might need to resize it as it will be bigger than your monitor
or use the scroll bars, the data is bottom left

It will record this quality about 12 hours straight , so all the way Mel to Syd & half way back, then it records over the start again, Any events or Landy waves etc, I download them off the micro sd card at night.

Looks good. Does a D2 have a power source already in the cavity just above the rear view mirror if you don't have the fancy mirror/s, or do we have to run power up there first?
At $400 approx, I'll be waiting for a birthday before hinting I can't do without one.
