Apologies up front mods if thsi should have gone in Comms , 12v etc section.
Does anyone have buyer advice or recomendations for one of those clip on systems that clip over your rear view mirror or replace your rear view mirror and have a remote wireless camera connected.
I understand that possibly both the camera and the mirror section may require a 12 v supply but do any work on battery alone?

RIP Bucko - Riding on Forever
I have installed one on my Disco S1 and not found it yo bad, only problem is when reversing into the sun, if it is at the right angle you can't see much. I have used one that requires wiring. The only issue I have had is that I don't get a massive life out of the camera, I have replaced it at least 3 times over the last 5 years (still using the same head unit and wiring though). A mate tried a wireless one on a Disco S2 and for some reason the electrical systems in the car caused so much interferance that he took it back
I bought a 10" mirror mounted reversing display on ebay for about $80 a number of years ago and am very happy with it. The issue of bright sun is true but that's the camera issue. I don't use the camera that came with the display but use a higher quality one (perhaps) from Jacar that I purchased 5 or 6 years ago. I've had no issues with it and the way it cables up is much more preferable to me. I've mounted the camera inside and at the top of the rear door of the disco under the rear tail/brake light. Means the camera doesn't get dusty and doesn't have to be cleaned when off road. I powered the display off the main battery and the camera off my auxilliary battery. The reason being the display can be turned off but the camera sucks a litte power all the time. I didn't want the main battery to be sucked dry if the vehicle wasn't being used for a time.
