    Advice needed

    Greetings All

I am looking at purchasing a Handheld UHF.

    MAKE: FDC
    MODEL: FD-150A

    VHF/UHF Transceiver 5watt

What i need it for the odd occasion I go bush.

Wondering if any one else has one of these units and if they have had any issues.

I know there are bigger and better radios on market but im finding it hard to justify big dollars for something i might use 3 times a year

    thoughts and suggests welcome

I have had one for about 3 years and is the only UHF I use in my RRS. A very good unit (mine was $80 on ebay). I still have the original battery and it still gives 3 days standby. Speaker clarity could be a little better but is still acceptable. There are accessories such as battery eliminator and coding for 80 channel.

I have matched mine against common brand names and mine performs as good or better.

The aerial can be removed and an external uhf aerial connected to give you even better range. Don't buy the optional mic/speaker phone as it is not good - a motorola one fits and works well.
