I was going to upgrade my Galaxy S1 to the S3, but spotted the Galaxy Note (n7000) coming out, and chose it instead.
I couldn't go past the 5.3" screen, as the phone is my primary GPS as well.
Otherwise, the S3 is an excellent phone, by all accounts.
Much depends on what you do with your phone - what phone do you currently have, and what do you do with it?
I love my nokia n97 mini (gotta have the keybaord), but if I were going to replace it with anything, it would be the samsung galaxy III
Hi Teamfa, have an old samsung slide thats just died,so I bought a flip-phone just to get me thru until I upgraded.
It was a toss up between the S3 and the iphone.
JB Hifi have the S3 on special for $60/month,most places are $80/month.
Will go in and get it this weekend.
Thanks all for the feedback.
cheers

Don't know about the SIII but like Nick130 I got the SII shortly before the SIII came out.
Three problems I've found:But don't know if these have been fixed in the SIII
- The battery charge life is very short, particularly if you have GPS or bluetooth function turned on. (discharge on idle overnight)
- I frequently get a background echo (as do other friends)
- The car cradle. Only fits the standard battery & the external antenna interface blocks GPS reception.
You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
Yes, the battery life sucks if you are using those bits and bobs
I haven't experienced the echo yet.
Diana, are you talking about the induction loop in the cradle (I haven't bought a cradle yet)
There is an external antenna port inside the back cover.
You can drill a 4mm hole in the back cover and attach a patch lead to it for an external antenna. (not sure if/how that affects the GPS function)
That's a major reason why i bought the SII, not many phones these days can be directly hooked up and I have a 6.5dBa gain antenna on the bullbar which I want to re-use.
Hi Rick
Yes I am using a cradle with a magnetic induction antenna interface. My concern with a patch lead through the back is the fragile nature of the micro plug and the fact its attached directly to the motherboard. I have already experienced the problem of the centre electrode in a Sony-Ericsson k610 breaking off with repeated insertions and removals from a Sony Ericsson cradle, so would feel manual insertion of a patch lead would be even more problematic.

I am atm looking at the 16gb s3-4g vs 8gb iphone 4s. The s3 is $3 per month on the same plan. I dont know which way to go though
I have an iPhone 4S (work) and an S3 (personal).
The battery lasts far better on the iPhone than the Samsung.
The iPhone has better reception in marginal areas (both Telstra)
Apps are good for both, IOS has some good apps you can't get on Android and vice versa.
If I had to choose, I would most likely go iPhone 4S.
Just for info. I was out in the bush with a bloke with an iPhone 5S on Telstra and I had coverage with the 4S where he had none
