Bushcomm Firecracker
Has anybody here had experience of the Bushcomm Firecracker as a back up antenna ?
Does anyone sell them here in the east ? ....or does one buy from Bushcomm direct ?
Is the performance OK? (is it as good or better than a tapped whip)

Yep. Always carry it when away. A rollover or a bad tree will do in auto tuner or damage a tapped whip. Whips don't work well sideways upside down, imbedded in a bank. tree or other vehicle. Most modern sealed batteries will work, but can you power up your HF from your alternate battery/ies.
Accident! That's when one would need HF the most. If main antenna damaged "up the creek without a paddle". Have used it to familiarise myself and to try it on VKS. Need to do it again next time out to re-familiarise myself.
Had to get mine direct, but that quite a few years ago. As I recall it arrived in a couple of days.
Cheers
