Which radio networks should I join?

    Hi all

I receerntly purchased a Codan HF (9323) and am now looking at joining the right radio networks.

I have VKS-737 already, are there any others that suit outback travel? (Outback as in Cape York, Gulf, Western QLD, Simpson desert etc)

    Cheers

Have heard "the Bush Telegraph" is good, minimal fees, around $25.00 p/year

We used to be with VKS, but at over $100-00 dollars a year and not doing outbacks trips every year we have found to be expensive, so not renewed.

When in Tassie last, most we travelled with used "Bush Telegraph", they found it quite good and in an emergency VKS-737 are obliged to help you anyway

    VKS737 now $120 pa....

..... doesn't seem expensive to me for serious travellers for what is very handy when/if needed

otherwise google "hf radio networks australia" for the others or take a look at satellite phones - they're getting cheaper

Try HF Radio Club Inc ..website HF Radio Club - Australian HF Radio Network - HF Radio Telephone Calls - HF Radio to SMS and HF Radio GPS Tracking accross Australia Email is enquiries@hfradioclub.com.au. Think their annual fee is around $65 plus joining fee. They're a pretty friendly mob.

    Regards
