Hello everybody,
Just thought I would let you know about the Pioneer DEH-8450BT head unit I just fitted to our 2011 Defender. The unit was easy to fit after I removed the two small metal clips on either side of the radio aperture. These would not allow the new cradle to fit, re width. The rubber locater on the rear of the original unit will not screw into the Pioneer so I made my own. I.S.O wiring adapter to suit the Pioneer made the wiring very quick. I went with this unit as it has two rear USB ports which allowed me to run our I-Pod wiring to the passenger storage tray & a USB cable out the back of the dash to our HEMA sat nav. No ugly access socket wiring on the front of the dash & the Hema charges from the USB no probs. Full I-Pod control & Blue Thang. I have also set the head unit back light colours to suit the cars green, bit trendy I know but what the hey. The sound is quite good with the standard speakers but some volume required to drown out the Defenders road noise. I actually prefer the look of the standard unit but I like the hidden accessories wiring.
