Should that be 9323?
If so, can you come and install mine?
Finally got time to install the Codan 9232 which I purchased from Trog. Bushie and ShortyNSW gave me a hand to mount the autotune on the spare wheel carrier and I mounted the radio.
This unit is a far cry from my old Wagner unit I had in the Defender which has seen better days. On our last trip out the Anne Beadell and the 250 to 300 mile centre line of fire pegs, my attempts to contact VKS 737 was usually met with "Can you repeat your call sign please" or "you sound off channel". Others that heard me trying to log in at skeds said it sounded like Alvin and the Chipmunks.
The mount that came with the unit did not fit so a piece of plate steel was welded to the top of the spare wheel carrier on the Red Terror and the autotune mounted to that.
The autotune was earthed to the rear bumper and the leads were fed up through the grommet behind the panel in the rear that has the reversing light, blinker and brake lights.
The antenna lead was run along the trim under the side window and the control lead was run under the trim at the top below the safari window.
The power lead for the unit was run from the battery box and out through the front and then between the seats and up behind the trim and then along the cargo barrier to where the transceiver was mounted.
The earth lead was run down to the floor and fixed to the seat belt bolt using braided copper lead from an old battery set up.
The control head was mounted on the front of the cubby box as was the microphone.
Thanks to Trog, all the VKS and RFDS channels were already installed so now its ready to go.
Lets hope that Alvin and chipmunks will be replaced by "Good to hear you are having a good time out on the track". Now back to the manual to learn a few more functions. The Wagner had an on and and and off and a clarifier that never worked.

I can hear voices but have not really tried to transmit with all the interference.
I will have the work out how to enter the new sellcall number in as his old one is still coming up. Maybe get a chance to head out of town when I get time to try and log in on VKS skeds.

Glad to see all went well with the radio. Guess now you will be keen to get away for a bit ?
