A general question re the ipod. I have noticed that despite quite a decent number of songs loaded onto the gizmo some songs and artists semm to get played more often than others when in the shuffle mode. Is there any reaon for this or am I only imagining that this is so as there doesnt [ that I know of} a play counter like the computer has.
Thanks

Which iPod (and which generation) do you have?
There is a play counter in iTunes which will tell you how many times each track has been played. Or at least there was on the previous version, haven't looked on the newest one.

No, there's no play count on the device itself, only on iTunes. We've got about 9 or 10 different iPods, of various generations and never noticed anything like what you're describing.
Looking at the play count in iTunes when you have it connected will confirm your suspicions, in the meantime, have a look at this article, and see if it helps:
On my iPod, can I shuffle in catgories, like Album, Genre, or a playlist? Or can only shuffle ALL the son

iPod random play setting
I can't remember where I saw it, either on one of my iPods or in iTunes... But there is a setting you can adjust to play songs more randomly or stick more to the songs it has already played. It had a sliding bar and you could adjust to what you wanted. I know it's bad English but couldn't think of the exact wording.

Are you sure there is only the one copy of each song on the iPod ?
With my collection there can be multiple versions of the one song, off different albums, compilations, best of, etc.

in most cases only one some covers but i know them.and some single album songs get played and others dont. a mate suggested try the shuffle on a song not heard often. have tried this and seems to show promise , but the battery is dying so wondering if there could be a relation.
