I have played with these radios, and they are a hassle. Most of the work is in inputting all the UHFCB frequencies. Hopefully it is in the file I have the link.
Once you upload the file into the radio, my experience is you need to go into the settings gs and change them back to your preferences ie no foreign language voice whenever you push a button.
My experience is the opposite. Load the file (yes that can be a hassle to the the PC and radio talking) but after that its just turn it on and away you go.Quote:

Am now back home,earlier than anticipated,due to a broken rear axle housing.See Technical Chatter.Handheld would have been useful when we swamped our dinghy in the croc infested Mary River...but that's another story!
Still having no luck with the Wouxun,but have made some progress,in that I have managed to get the frequencies on the Channel Message page.Using this computer which is Win7 64 bit,the Device Printer page shows the device as Prolific on com port 3.Have set the KG-UVD1P V2.11 port to com port 3.But when attempting to write to the Wouxun, first the channel 2 frequency highlights? then the download bar moves 4 blue indicators before it comes up with failed connection.Obviously I am doing something wrong....any ideas?

You're doing better than I am with the radio right now. I can't even get the USB-serial driver to be happy on Win7 64bit. I originally did the programming on a 32bit Win7 machine but I no longer have that one.
Do you recall where you got the driver from and what it was described as? Was it specifically for Win7 64bit or more general?
Since you've already got past that bit, have you tried reading the existing config from the radio before you try and write to it?

OK, I can talk to mine again now.
After about an hour of trying various things, many reboots and driver install/uninstalls, mine just started working. I wasn't doing anything different, and now I can't get it to give the failed connection message.
Makes me think its something like a dodgy connection where it plugs into the radio.
Here's some notes that might be useful to others:
Win7 64bit.
Follow the info here about making sure windows doesn't automatically update the driver you are installing http://wouxun.us/Software/USB_Driver...%20Drivers.pdf
Driver install file is either named usb_vista09.exe or "USB Driver for Vista & Win7.exe". Both are the same file and show in windows as 2018kb, with file version number 10.50.0.125.
Programming software - both v2.0 and v2.11 work fine for me.

To summarise:
Radio off, plug cable into radio, plug cable into computer, turn radio on....
Make 100% sure the programming cable is plugged fully into the radio.
Run the programming software and set the communication port to the port number that you find in device manager. If its above 20 you will need to reset your com ports using the info here: My Coffee cup: How to clear or Reset COM port ?

Steve,Fantastic result,all is good, the prolific driver appeared to be the stumbling block.The vista/win7 driver from the wouxun.us site did the trick.

There are plenty of settings to play with if you are that way inclined, but TBH I just loaded the frequency file from here then turn on and talk!!
Mainly use it for out of vehicle recovery comms and as backup in case my main radio dies.
