    Wouxun struggling to operate.

I am completely new to radio communication, but my Defender has a UHF radio fitted,so thought it would be a good idea to have some communication with it when away from the vehicle.Bought a Wouxun KG-UVD1P on advice from the forum, but am stuck on step one of its operation. It starts up in frequency mode, press Menu +TDR screen says Step 12.5K and a voice says Function F Lock.Seems to be stuck on channels 1&2.How do I progress from here?

Have you loaded up the frequency map posted by someone here? It gives you all the usual 40 UHF channels for Australia (not sure if anyone has updated it to 80Ch)

Its been a year or so since I did mine so I don't recall the exact details, but there are frequency files uploaded in this thread : http://www.aulro.com/afvb/communicat...ency-file.html
Read the whole thread as there may have been some adjustments to the file on the way through.

Also a useful hint I posted in this thread on connection issues with USB and Windows7 http://www.aulro.com/afvb/communicat...hf-wouxun.html

Steve,I had a look at the thread and downloaded the vista driver,it looked as if it was using port 14 whereas the installer shows port 1....no idea how to change ports on the installer, cannot change from port 1.Device manager is now not showing any Prolific Driver?

Been ages since I did it so I can't recall how to set the port.
I do recall that it wasn't able to be set to the high port number that was automatically assigned, so I had to do do the USB port number reset I mentioned here: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/communicat...ml#post1643154

See how you go. If no luck drop me a PM to remind me and I'll try and have a look tonight.

Steve,Took the set into Desert Comms in Alice,he had a hissy fit when I asked if he could put the channels in.........only the uhf!Reckoned he would lose his licence and I could end up in jail!!Tried again in Longreach, bloke there reckoned too involved a process...not worth doing, cost more that the actual reciever etc.So nothing resolved.

Hopefully we can get this sorted.
For starters, which version of the Wouxun program are you using. I've got KG-UVD1-V1.04.exe on my notebook so I'm guessing that's what I used.

When I run it without the radio connected and click on the Communiction menu, I can see COM1 greyed out, and COM2 available for selection. All others are greyed out.
What do you see on yours if you do that?

I know I stuffed around for a while, trying to sort out comm ports, and installing drivers............ it turned out that my plug wasn't pushed all the way into the handset. Once it clicked in properly, everything just worked. (Vista 64)
