    Low voltage disconnects

Finally got around to measuring the actual amp draw of the 40L Engel in the D1. Ambient in low 30's, fridge box reading .5 deg and turned dial to a colder setting to make compressor cut in. 4 amp spike on start up then drops to 3.3 amp. When fridge cut out, amps dropped to a steady .5A....hmmmm

I have the fridge hooked up with an Engel low voltage cut out, so I removed this and checked again. .1amp with fridge on / compressor not running. 3.5amp spike on start up dropping down to 2.9amp, then back down to .1amp when compressor shut off.

So the LVD is drawing .4amp all the time?

If this is so, that's a considerable amount of battery capacity waisted if out camping and parked up for a few days. Since I like the idea of a LVD, whats out there that reliable, moderately priced, and has a lower amp draw than the Engel unit I'm using?

    Cheers
    Rick

Hi Rick, this might what you are after.

    The ABG-25 draws 65ma at 12v

Also note, there is an AULRO discount price for the ABG-25

Thanks for posting that DriveSafe. Very interesting, and good to see you can change the low voltage cutout voltage - very smart.

Couple of small things on your web page if you are interested, you need to edit fad to fades in this sentence:

If the battery is discharged down to near the selected Cut-Out voltage, the LED fad in and out, ...

And you need to fix guarantee in this sentence:

All our isolators are supplied with a 5 year Parts and Labour warranty and a Lifetime Repair Guaranty.
