    long range wireless camera to monitor?

    For the electronic wizards.
    I would like a camera / monitor setup that will go 500 yds or so.
    The reason.
    On the rifle range when load testing at long range I cant see the bullet holes in the target.
    I thought a camera could be set up to transmit in real time to a monitor back on the mound so I could spot the shots.
    Asked the lads in Dick Smith yesterday , but all they could come up with is some set up using a smartphone and the internet.
    I dont have a smartphone and internet charges for such a long period would be excessive.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks Paul but I have a good spotting scope but it wont pick up bullet holes at over 300 yds

    Hi.

    You could have two directional antennas to create a long range wireless network. But cameras, antenna masts, wireless gear, pc on the other end to view the stream, someone to install and configure it would not be cheap.

    I'd imagine physical cabling the job might be impossible given the distance. You could talk to a CCTV installer or data cabler to get some options but I suspect they'd say the same as above.

    You could have a sensor on the target that indicates a hit by flashing a light or something. That way you know if it's worth getting the telescope out to have a look. Someone must have already solved the problem?

    Some thing like this would do but you will need a camera about $30 and a screen $50 and a 12 volt alarm battery Tricky dicky sells every thing you need but they don't know it

    these are a bit better quality and range

    Wireless video transmitter for long range transmission - 1.2GHz.

    Thanks. that looks promising.
    If i bought it with the dipoles to start. Goes to 300 mtrs. , could I make my own hi gain directional for longer distance.
    Looks like they are bulky to ship.
    I have the ARRL antenna handbook that shows how to build yagi,s etc but I have never done that sort of thing before.

    Not too bulky 1 unit is slightly bigger than a cig packet the other slightly small less than 500 g for both of them evething else from dick smith or jaycar
