I had an 8zed 1500w pure sine inverter in the back of my Defender. It had daily use for three months powering our 1000W Nespresso machine on a trip around Australia, it worked great right up until the smoke escaped from it in Laverton. I got a report from the suppliers - Wallcann, on the 8zed 1500W, (which they replaced with a 2000W version under warranty) one of the power transistors was faulty, they traced it to a bad batch of components. The Nespresso draws 95A when running, but only runs for 20-30 seconds at a time.
In Cooper Pedy, I got a replacement 2200W inverter, "no name Chinese brand, it has a hard time with the Nespresso machine, and would only work with the engine running. It certainly is nowhere near the 8Zed in performance and quality. I put the new 8Zed back in the Defender.
In my Unimog I have a 1500 Latronic unit, it is very heavy duty, I got the ruggedised version and that has been working fine for over three years now (occasional use) , with daily use for the last few months powering a Nespresso machine in the truck. If you are interested in quality, go with the Latronics unit, it is build for years of use. I will put the 8Zed unit in the truck when it is one the road, more of a back-up then anything else and for smaller loads like laptops and my quadcopter battery chargers etc
