    Help with stereo wiring please

    I have purchased a Pioneer MVH-X375BT
    http://www.pioneer.com.au/images/pro..._b2_medium.jpg
which i want to fit to my Tdi Defender.

The terribly messy wiring in that general region currently looks like this:

specifically I believe these are the relevant plugs

(judging from the way that white plug is wired I assume that's the speaker wires - but I can't be sure).

Now the head unit is a modern one with a single smaller plug, as you can see on the rear image here:

So I presume there are 2 options.

    1. Assume that the current (no pun) wiring is correct and purchase an ISO adapter harness to suit, eg:
Pioneer ISO Wiring Harness MVH 155UI MVH 355BT MVH X175UI MVH X375BT MVHX375BT | eBay

(I do have te vehciule/ISO portion of a harness I believe, just need the ISO - head unit one.

    or

    2. Cut the god awful wiring that is there are rewire it to the supplied harness which came in the box with the unit.

Option 2 Pro: MUCH cleaner with less useless crap wiring floating about everywhere.
Con: Need wiring diagram for supplied harness.
Con: Also need to know how to work out what wires in the vehicle (first pics) are what, to match them up.

I THINK option 2 would be better in the long run BUT any and all advice would be welcomed.

    Thanks
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    I found some installation 'instructions'

I can't see, however, how the L and R REAR speakers would hook up - there seems to be wires only for 1 lot of rear?

Wire it up from your existing harness onto the one supplied. Isn't that hard to do and can be done in 5 minutes. The wiring diagram on the new one says that wife's 11+12 are rear left, wires 13+14 are the rear right.

    Where abouts are you located?

    Thanks for that interpretation.
    Brisbane mate. Northside.

I did buy an ISO adapter but I think that's going to be a nightmare in itself. And messy.
Anyway I'll give that a go and if I'm not happy with the result, will rewire it as you say.

Tips for joining smaller and larger gauge wires together?

Meanwhile (as per my other thread in this forum) there's a pile of horrible wiring I need to sort out.....

My interpretation is 10 & 11 are rear left and 12 & 13 are rear right.

from here: Harness Iso To Pioneer App8Pi05 - Supercheap Auto Australia

    for $16.29

Plug the ends on the left into the factory loom...

Plug the end on the right into the stereo...

    Plug antenna in...

    DONE....

Now how can that be difficult or messy?

My bad, and I stand corrected.
