Thread: Where to mount speakers in the back of a 130?

I put mine into a rear shelf but you lose headroom if you carry back seat passengers, also got rid of the crap under dash speakers and replaced with better ones in the front doors with splits up on the dash + a good 4 channel amp behind the back seat

I've mounted mine as you see in the pictures. I shaped some timber blocks to fit between the head lining and the roof, then stuck the blocks in position with silicon. The speakers then screwed with their mounting rings, through the head lining into the blocks. I then pulled it all out and painted the headlining. I could take more pictures of it all finished if you want.

I'm following this as am looking to do the same thing.
I really wanted some 4" splits for the front but they don't make such a thing.

I don't have hoodlining (will be carpeting up there instead - so much more room) but want to retain headroom for rear set passengers. Had considered behind the rear seats but the obstruction would probably defeat the purpose....

In reference to the front speakers, I have fitted 5" splits in replacement of the 4". Ryda.com.au sell the correct cradly for the speakers and they fitted straight up to the dash without cutting.

Are you able to provide a link to the speaker mount thing in the ryda website please? I've tried every permutation i can think of with no luck at all.

Ok. The speaker spacers I used were part number AP314. These have an outside diameter of 140mm. With fitting the 5" speakers I did use my router to countersink the speaker. The spacers are mdf so you can work with them pretty easy.
The speakers I'm now using are the kicker KSS54. I'm running these direct off my head unit and they sound pretty good.
As for the rest of my system if you're interested, I use a double din pioneer head unit mounted in a mudstuff dash pod. Pioneer active sub woofer mounted behind the rear seats and matching kicker 6.5" splits in the rear headlining which are flush mounted. However behind the headining I have secured some mdf speaker spacer mounts which help to stop the speaker sounding "tinny".

That part number doesn't work on the website...
The only spacers they have seem to be 6/5" or 6x9's.

I don't suppose you took any pictures at the time? I'm just trying to get my head around how to make a spacer that fits a 5"speaker over a 4" hole and is recessed with a router?
