Barrett 950/550
Anyone know if the 950 procedure for editing channels from the front panel work for 550 series?
I have a 550R bought in 1998 as Outback Pack, still has the original programmed channels so is minus two VKS-737 channels and will have a few redundant channels.
It was fitted to my original Disco 1 until I sold about 3 years ago, tried to sell it a couple of times with no takers and as I now have a Disco 2 I decided I might as well fit it again.
I have tried to get the Barrett software but no luck there. I realise it runs under DOS on slow computer but that is no problem and I have started to swat up in preparation for Amateur Foundation license, which perhaps might lead me to the software.

I do not know the answer to your question.
There is a copy of the manual here if it helps [ame]http://www.hf-radio.com.au/manuals/550-user-manual.pdf[/ame].
Unless the model you have is able to be free-tuned I would have assumed that it would be similar to a standard Codan of the era with all transmit channels programmed onto an eprom ? Eproms for even the older Codans are readily available so perhaps you could contact one of those vendors ?
Anyhow, someone who knows a lot more will hopefully come along soon.

Thanks, but I still have all original documentation, which gives no info on programming any extra channels. It can be free tuned on receive only.

No it doesn't work, but all fixed. Rang Barrett in Perth and they gave me the info needed
